This site was created in May of 2016 when the La Cañada Unified School District (LCUSD) School Board, located in La Cañada-Flintridge California, decided to adopt a new Common Core aligned mathematics textbook in its three elementary schools. Contained on this site is information about Everyday Mathematics, the elementary mathematics curriculum used in the district, how it was selected, and how it has fared in use in the district, for the benefit of informing parents, teachers and staff. In addition, the site also contains information about the middle school mathematics textbook selection process that occurred in the 2016-17 school year, and other broader topics related to mathematics instruction in the district at all levels K–12.
Thank you for this enlightening website. Other than San Marino using the program, I don’t see any reason that La Canada should even consider this program, let alone adopt it. I have contacted a San Marino parent who has stated that all three of her boys were terrible at math and performed poorly on the standardized testing. Please keep us informed of what happens at the meeting this week. I will be in Boston on business.
